Got our first order a couple weeks ago and everything is fantastic. Packaged perfectly and the pieces of all the fish are cut with care. It’s amazing we can order fish from Alaska and arrives here in Miami great.
Arrived secure in a nice box and cooler. The order was intact and on spot. Each item was securely wrapped and sealed in plastic and still cold. I would order from this place again for their variety and selection. Wild caught seafood on the spot.
I have not yet cooked any of my order myself. I shared my order with my daughter's family, and my son-in-law--who is a very good cook--cooked some of the halibut. I didn't really find anything wrong with the fish, but he said not to give them any more in the future. When I asked why, he simply stated that frozen fish cannot measure up to fresh fish. "The halibut doesn't taste bad, but it just tastes like it has been frozen."
I understand his point because I have eaten fresh-caught fish that he has cooked before. He is right: fresh does taste better. However, living in the Southeast, I have no local options for obtaining fresh halibut, cod, or sockeye salmon. I will eat the rest of the order myself. I am not as picky as he is.
One definite positive is that my order arrived quickly and was in excellent shape. Eight pieces were still frozen solid, and two pieces had just barely begun to thaw a bit around the edges, but the rest of those two pieces was still fully frozen.
A not-to-positive factor is that the fish is simply too expensive for me to justify ordering more than perhaps once or twice a year. Others obviously disagree with my opinion, as Tanner's has lots of repeat and subscription buyers. I applaud Tanner's for the service they offer, and I hope they continue to be successful.
Recived mostly collar cuts of the halibut and very few premium cuts of the sockeye. Have ordered before and have had mixed results.
I ordered Alaskan White King Salmon. It was excellent!
