Tanner’s Alaskan Seafood provides professional sport fish processing at our locations in Soldotna and Ninilchik, Alaska.

Whether you are fishing for halibut in Cook Inlet or salmon on the Kenai Peninsula, we will treat your catch with the same care we would give our own. Fish brought to us for processing is cut to your specifications, vacuum sealed when requested, and placed in the freezer the same day.

We also offer airline-ready fish boxes, frozen fish storage, and overnight shipping through FedEx and UPS.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is fresh fish processing?

Fresh fish processing means your catch is cut according to your instructions and prepared for transportation or storage.

Depending on the services you select, your fish may be:

  • Filleted or portioned

  • Skinned

  • Vacuum sealed

  • Flash frozen

  • Boxed for airline travel

  • Prepared for overnight shipping

Fish is processed as quickly as possible and is typically ready for pickup or shipping the following day.

What is flash freezing?

Flash freezing, also called blast freezing, quickly freezes food at extremely low temperatures.

Freezing fish quickly helps prevent the formation of large ice crystals that can damage the texture of the meat. This process helps preserve the quality, flavor, and texture of your catch.

How do I get my fish home?

Customers may pick up their frozen fish, transport it as checked airline baggage, or arrange overnight shipping through FedEx or UPS.

Tanner’s sells Styrofoam-lined cardboard boxes that act as lightweight coolers for frozen fish. These boxes are accepted by major airlines.

Please speak with our staff before your pickup date so we can prepare your fish correctly for your method of travel.

Can I use dry ice?

Dry ice is generally not necessary when fish has been properly flash frozen.

Dry ice may be added when requested, but airline rules vary. Contact your airline before traveling to confirm its current dry ice limits, packaging rules, and labeling requirements.

Do you sell seafood?

  • Halibut

  • King salmon
